Merry Christmas from the Johnsons

digital proof of the card
I had our wedding invitation designer do our Christmas cards this year and they turned out beautiful. I'm so ocd that I started dreaming these up in September and have been emailing with our designer back and forth since then. Thankfully we came to a consensus and I got these little guys in the mail on Monday.

actual card. they were hand sewn ;)
We're so excited to spend our first married Christmas relaxing with family and friends. We pray God's richest blessings on you and yours this year and we hope to see you soon.

Officially done

Justin officially graduated with his MBA this weekend. He completed his coursework in August, but they didn't have a ceremony, and quite frankly I'm glad they didn't. We got married two weeks after he turned in his last final. Delaying the celebration didn't seem to matter. It certainly didn't change how proud I am of him. He juggled so much over the last two years and finished early so we could get married without the worry or stress of school.

We spent most of the day at TCU for the hooding ceremony and then the actual graduation. We had a little party with family and friends afterwards.

Congratulations honey! I am so proud of all you have accomplished.

Nine years and counting

So I still have strep. At least it's lovely lingering effects. Tomorrow marks day six of antibiotics. I feel better, just cough a lot and sound like an old chain smoker. I'm over being sick. So over it.

I didn't let my nasty little infection ruin our ninth annual girl's Christmas weekend though. After making sure I wasn't contagious, I met up with my very favorite Baylor friends to continue our tradition of catching up, festive photo ops and reliving the "good old days." Thankfully we were in Fort Worth this year, so no travel on my part. I did spend my first full weekend away from Justin, who I'm sure was really sad to get rid of his hacking, stuffy-nosed wife for two days. Anyway, we had a great time traipsing around cowtown and just being together. We can't wait for the newest member of the inner circle to arrive this Spring. We love you baby Edwards!

I'm so thankful for good friends, good times and great traditions. Merry Christmas to me. And my stupid infection.

In sickness and in health

We had our first major bout of illness this week, and it was me. I started out with a touch of a sore throat on Monday, but didn't have any other symptoms. Tuesday was the same. I just assumed it was allergies. We had our tree lighting event Tuesday night for the city and about halfway through I started feeling really sick. By the time we got home I was shaking with the chills and my throat felt like it was closing in, making it very difficult to swallow. I went to the doctor first thing Wednesday morning and tested positive for strep. I didn't realize adults could get that. Apparently we can. The worst part (aside from having to quarantine myself from my new husband), was that I had lunch with a pregnant friend on Tuesday afternoon and was around my nieces later that night. I pray that no one catches what I have. I am much, much better today thanks to antibiotics, chicken noodle soup and some ice cream ;) I'd like to say the surprise two days off were amazing, but the majority of my time was spent in a lot of pain, with cold sweats and a tremendous headache. I would much rather have been at work. No joke. Also, not being able to kiss my husband has been torture. I spent the last couple of hours of my sick day disinfecting the house, so hopefully the germies are gone. I know this will not be the last time that either of us gets sick, but it's really not fun being a newlywed with strep throat. Thanking God today for antibiotics and the best partner who was not the slightest concerned about catching anything from his germy wife.
